RECREATIONAL DIVE PLANNER

April 6, 2010

Dive 1

Assume you want to plan to dive on the reef that is 80 feet below, and you want to stay there for 20 minutes. And you know that after the dive you will have 1 hour of surface interval.

On DivePlanner you would enter:
Which would be logged in your dive log as:
After this dive and surface interval, you are now in PRESSURE GROUP C.

Dive 2

After your surface interval of 1 hour, you are ready for your next dive. After Dive 1, you were on PRESSURE GROUP C, so you will need to select Pressure Group C for this dive. This dive you plan to stay for 45 minutes at 60 feet. Entering the data on DivePlanner you get:

You cannot stay for 45 minutes at 60 feet on a no decompression dive. Maximum allowable time is 41 for a no decompression dive. So you will have to alter your bottom time for this dive to 40 minutes.
As you can see, the Residual Nitrogen Time (RNT), Actual Bottom Time (ABT) and the Total Bottom Time (TBT) has been computed. Take note also, now you need to make a safety stop at 15 feet. It's getting late in the day, so your planned surface interval for this dive is 30 minutes. After this dive and surface interval, you are now in PRESSURE GROUP N.

REMEBER: this is not intended to replace your dive computers. It is always better to check your dive plan against a dive table for extra safety precaution.
