General Santos City, South Cotabato

One of places I wanted to visit was General Santos.  My cousins live there, and the last time I was at there house was soooo long ago that I could only remember that they always had Pili-nuts that we were allowed to eat after dinner.  So, my purpose was two-fold, I wanted to visit my cousins, and I wanted to visit my grandparents grave.  You see, I did not get to go back when both of them died.  This, I made it a point to visit their grave.

My uncle took us there, along with my aunt on the very first day. Click below to visit their site.

To Lola and Lolo Mayol

Then we had a dinner/karaoke/drinking at my uncles house.  Tiyo Didi, my mom's younger brother does not drink like he used to.  I remember him when I was small, and he would be drinking on parties with my other uncles and relatives.  Pero, he still drank with me and my cousins, pero not like before.  My other uncle that still drinks heavily when occasion calls - or someone buys the drink, is my uncle Boy.  He is still single by the way, and never married ---- and available, hehehe. Joke lang tiyo Boy ha.

It was like a feast!  I've never seen sooo much food prepared for a small gathering.  Pero if you look at the bodies of my cousins, you will get the point as to why so much food has been prepared.

This party lasted into the wee hours in the morning.  My cousin Paul took me out afterwards and showed me a good time in General Santos.  Karaoke and beer that is.

Angie's Home Village - if I live here, no one will ever find me!

The Partridge Compound

Tita Coring, Tiyo Didi and Loyam (along with his son) picked Joy and I at the airport.  I had no problem recognizing Tiyo Didi and Tita Coring, however, Loyam was different story ----- he was humongous!  I guess it's in the Mayol blood.  I'll have to watch my diet.

When we got to my Tita Coring's compound, I started to notice a mango tree (with fruits) and an avocado tree (with fruits again).  I ate soooo much green mangoes all throughout my stay at General Santos.  Their house was so spacious and very breezy.  They have a swimming pool, exotic birds - one that mimics my aunts laugther!  They have horses, and a rice field on the back.  Something like 6 or 7 hectars of land.  Joy and I did not dread walk the entire land for there was a stallion who was acting crazy because one of the horses is in "hit".  The stallion was running around and banging the door that leads to the outer land that has like 5 or 6 female horses.

"Green Mangoes, anyone?" Tiyo Didi with green mangoes.  Checkout the Orchids on the back!

The night before we were going back to Cebu.

When everyone left, the boys stayed and talked and drank beer.

We went to their Scuba Diving Resort. There we met the Governor, a very nice fellow. My cousin Paul also should me his DVD collection and his guns.  He has a shotgun and a Glock.

This gun is heavy.

Don't mess with us!

The Quijano Clinic

We also met with Joys cousin.  Dr. Eder Quijano is my classmate Noel's elder brother.  Dr. Quijano has a clinic in Calumpang who happens to know my aunt Dr. Socorro Partridge.

Now I'm not worried if I get sick here. hehehe

A Day with Uncle Didi

Tiyo Didi took us to his farm.  I was astonished!  I was a big farm.  He showed me parcels of land that belong to him all around General Santos.  He even jokes around saying, "your Tiya Angie has sooo many lands in here that I lost track which one belongs to us".  His farm has a two story masters quarters, and his goats (get this), has their own Nipa Hut too!  I can't believe it!  I started counting his cows, but I lost track when the herd came into the fence.  Pigs, he's got 'em also --- lot's of them.

Hut for the kids ---- billy the kid taht is.

Yup, goats have it easy on this farm.

They even have a private room for their "kids"

Tiyo Eddie, "Migs" and me

Loyam, T. Eddie, and me

All the land you see here belongs to my Uncle.

Now is that a Pig or what? oh, and that's Joy too.

almost about to give birth

that's a lot of pigs!

Cows coming through!

Whatsalookingat? huh?

All of them took turns drinking!

After the farm, we went to eat a restaurant that were on stilts -- above water.  This is the same place that I believe Tiyo Boy lost control of the car and let's just say, did not make it outside the resort gates.  Nevertheless, that food was good!  We were all stuffed!

Then we drove to the Dole plantation to buy sweet pineapples.  Yup, I've never liked pineapples, pero this time, I ate 'em.  They were so delicious!
