'06 Toyota 4Runner Sport Edition 4WD V8

Since our '03 Honda Pilot was long since been paid off already, and the mileage  is hitting around the 75+k miles, Joy and I decided to trade it in. Our original  choice for a replacement vehicle was another Honda Pilot. The 2006 Honda Pilot  came equiped with a bigger engine and nice anemities such as navigation and DVD  screen for the kids. However, when we went to Power Honda in Valencia, they did not  have a 4WD model. The salesman tried to sell us a 2WD model, which I adamantly refused.

So we went to Frontier Toyota. The salesperson was so nice, and there was no pressure at all.  We told him, "We want a 4WD, Black, with sunroof." By golly, they had it. His response was  "Do you want a V8, or a V6?". We opted for the V8 since it's a full-time 4WD. The V6 has  a multi-mode 4WD where you can switch it to 2WD, 4WD-H, or 4WD-L. So we decided to get the  Sport Edition 4WD V8. We were surprised that it came with a link for the iPod.

Here's some awesome pictures of the 4Runner in action, as taken from the Toyota website:

The funny thing was, I was supposed to be driving this most of the time.  But Joy enjoyed the fact that the iPod can be connected to this vehicle that  she drives this most of the time now. So, I got to drive the Z4 most of the time  instead. Which works out ok for us, because I drive farther than her daily. With  the 4Runner being a V8, it would make sense that whoever drives the shorter distance  should drive the vehicle with the bigger engine.

Honestly, I have no problem driving the Z4 everyday.hehehe

With Joy and I taking scuba, this truck carries all our gear, including two oxygen tanks.  When summer comes, we will soon take this truck offroad, most likely to Hungry Valley,  OHV area and to Lake Tahoe for the snow. Not to mention this trucks towing capability.  Now we are able to tow a "boat" perhaps? We do not live far from Castaic Lake, Pyramid Lake, or  even Lake Piru. hhhmmmm.... maybe a couple of Jet-ski's would do.

The first thing i did was get the windows tinted. I had it tinted the same place i had  my CR-V and Honda Pilot tinted. It's in downtown LA at Kingsley and Beverly. They  do a very good job there. I highly recommend that place.

Tow hitch was what we were missing on the Pilot. With this, we can now carry bikes and pull watercrafts. We got it with 11 miles on the gauge, but was not able to take a picture then. Gotta have that 4 wheel drive.

We had the license plate customized.  With permission from my Uncle Phil who started the "Tuff" series in the bay area, we were now a "Tuff" series holder.  My Uncle Phil used to have "TUFF RX7" on his Mazda RX7, and now has "TUFF TRD" on his Toyota Truck.  On our Z4, Tuff Z4 just about says it all.

Also you'll notice the iFM sticker on the back of the Z4.  My good friend Fred gave us some stickers from the radio station he works at, so i tagged it in the rear of the vehicle.

One time i was cleaning the Z4 and decided to take some pictures of it....

When it was time to replace the tires on our Honda Pilot.  I opted for the next size up the standard Pilot Tires.  As you can see below, the bigger tires make the Honda Pilot look more aggressive.  With the next size up on the tire size, there is no rubbing or anything of the wheel against the frame.  Hmmm.... maybe i should have tried two sizes over the standard size.
